Gradual Healing

By Olivia Uzuncan, TIWP Student

Little by little. Step by step. She slowly starts to turn the pain in to relief. By drowning in fear and uncertainty, she was somehow cleansed to the bone, feeling as if she was born again. She went from walking a tightrope to running on land, within days of letting him out of her mind. Her skin magically cleared up, her shoulders free of weight, her mind able to turn foggy nightmares into sunny dreams. Yet every time she sees his face, her compass is torn between remembering the laughs and love that they shared and remembering that a world without him is one without worries and judgment, and she’s the best she’s ever been.
