They say to be ladylike,
to be prim, kept, and burst with perfection,
to live up to societies expectations,
to be gentle, quiet, and lovely.
But what if I don’t want to?
What if I want to be uninhibited and messy
and as imperfect as they come,
to be my definition of perfect
to be rough around the edges
to have wit and determination?
What if I don’t want to be ladylike?
What if I want more in life
than to have children and a husband to wait on?
What if I need to feel like my life matters?
What if I decided to break the standards
of what a woman should be?
What would you say to that?
