“No one gets to affect my mood.” —from a list of healthy boundaries

I remember the times when my happiness was determined by a notification from a Snapchat or Facetime or a text or even the thought of you—just to be drained when those simple notifications stopped appearing. I remember thinking my day was ruined because I hadn’t heard from one single person, because I thought no one was thinking about me. Sadly, social media can do this to a person. I remember feeling so empty when you stopped putting in effort and I became so mad at you for making me feel the way I felt. But I regret that because you never should have had that power in the first place. Because of you, I’ve learned to determine my own happiness.
