Impossible Emotions

By Kea Yoshinaka, TIWP Student

Sometimes, I don’t know how to find the word
for how I’m feeling,
so I describe it.
This is me
describing my impossible emotions.

Being left in an abandoned parking lot during a storm.
Jolting awake from a dream.
Laughing until you can’t breathe.
Falling on your face in front of a crowd.
Waves in the ocean hoisting you up, and then pulling you under.
A hug from your safe person.
Trying to speak in a group and having absolutely no one listening.
Someone saying they are proud of you.
Laying in the grass on the summer day.
Diving underwater in a pool.
Your best friend being genuinely happy.
Letting go of the thing/person/place that was drowning you.

I hope that I can express these better one day,
but for now this is the best I’ve got.
