Drowning

By Elise Flagg, TIWP Student

The water surrounded her, silencing her once prominent voice. She tries to swim up but what looks like the surface continues to move farther and farther away. Just one breathe of air. One short breath is all she needs. No one is helping. No one will help her. The darkness surrounds her empty thoughts. Her body no longer floats and her white dress flows silently around her as she falls deeper into the sea of death. Warm hands clasp her and drag her down deeper into oblivion. She does not fight it, rather she lets her last piece of life escape her mouth through a small bubble. And she watched it float up to the surface, escaping the death she was not so lucky to have escaped herself.
