Her Story

By Cami Lovell, TIWP Student

When a woman tells her own story,
She lives forever
Keeping hidden, quiet,
Those are invisible curses
She is just lost, within herself
Eating away at her stories, experiences, personality
Until there is nothing left but a blank mind
and a broken soul
Memories that once kept her grounded,
Scraped clean
A loss, too much to handle
But when the story is told
Others are filled with power, strength, confidence
Her words keep others away,
From the dark path of silence
A woman’s words help her world, her community, her family, herself
Looking into what’s lost but more,
What’s gained
She is herself
With her own story,
Her own life,
And her own strengths
Teach others
Show them
How much their story can do too
