Waves

By Mira Haldar, TIWP Student

Today, in the twenty-first century, there are numerous ongoing challenges to pursue. Climate change, women’s inequality, racial injustice, immigration, the education crisis, low income families, animal abuse, suicide prevention – the list goes on. But these are world challenges. No matter how powerful the individual, no single person can completely change these ongoing crises from occurring.

So, what do I choose to challenge? I choose to challenge myself. I choose to push myself and strive for excellence so that I can be the best version of myself. Though alone I cannot move mountains or solve climate change, I can be heard. I can be a voice. A contribution. I can be a part of something bigger than myself and contribute to saving our planet.

I can be one voice in a sea of silence. My voice can make waves that roll through society’s currents. I can start as a small ripple that grows to become a tsunami of power. But, without my voice, without my strength, without my determination, I am just a ripple. A ripple alone in a sea of currents that can drown me whole. And soon enough, the ripples of the next generation will be flooded entirely. I am the ripple. You are the ripple. And together, we are the wave of change.
